Overview

The College of Technological Studies has designed this program to prepare high school graduates to meet these requirements upon the successful completion of the program. The Petroleum Technology Program includes two specializations: one is Exploration and Development and the other, Production and Exporting. The first aims to graduate assistant engineers in the exploration and development area, whereas the second aims to graduate them to work in the production areas. The primary objective of the Petroleum Engineering Technology Curriculum is to provide the student with sufficient science fundamentals, laboratory and practical experience in order to work as a qualified technician in oil and gas producing and service companies.

Majors

  • Production and Export

    The Program Educational Objectives


    • Operate Oil and Gas production and exporting facilities.
    • Think critically to solve problems.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively in speaking and writing.
    • Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior.


    Student Outcomes


    1. Acquire a broad overview of all aspects of the petroleum industry
    2. Operate and monitor upstream and downstream production facilities
    3. Evaluate reservoir fluid properties
    4. Identify gathering center, storage and export facilities layout
    5. Prepare equipment for maintenance
    6. Apply safety regulations
    7. Monitor operating conditions
    8. Handle  equipment emergencies
    9. Handle different types of chemicals
    10. Sample process streams (liquid, gas, solid)
