Overview

The Civil Engineering Technology curriculum prepares the graduates to work in coordination with civil engineers. It aims to provide the industry with assistant engineers capable of aiding engineers in executing and supervising civil engineering projects with the ability to continue their studies towards a higher degree.

Majors

The department offers a set of courses through which the student may specialize in one of the following fields:

  • Building Construction Technology

    Program Objectives


    1. Ability to supervise workers in construction sites, to produce civil engineering drawings and quantity survey reports, and to conduct tests on construction materials and soil specimens.
    2. Think critically to solve problems.
    3. Communicate clearly and effectively in speaking, writing and reading.
    4. Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior.


    Students Outcomes


    1. Perform standard design of concrete structures
    2. Perform standard design of traditional steel structures
    3. Produce construction and civil engineering drawings
    4. Produce quantity surveying reports
    5. Conduct standardized field and laboratory concrete tests
    6. Conduct standardized field and laboratory soil tests
    7. Perform land measurements and produce layouts
    8. Supervise site workers
    9. Administrate and manage construction contracts and documents
    10. Evaluate and select appropriate finishing materials
    11. Read and understand various construction drawings
    12. Apply safety rules

Laboratories

laboratories and workshops of the department of Civil Engineering Technology are equipped with testing machines, instruments, and tools including the following:

  • Soil Mechanics and Foundation laboratory
  • Highway Testing laboratory
  • Concrete and Material Testing laboratory

  • Sanitary Works Workshop
